Initiative Meaning:
‘The power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do‘

Formed in August of 2021, The Victoria Brass Youth and Training Initiative which operates under the auspices of Victoria Brass Incorporated, is the first truly State wide run initiative for young brass and percussion musicians, which has been run in the State of Victoria in well over 8 years. The formation of the ensembles is to focus, inspire and train the next generation of players in a fun, inviting and nurturing environment – Building foundation to high-level skills which are generally not available in many school or community ensembles.

The ensemble invites guest conductors to work with and mentor the two groups, Training Initiative (beginner) and Youth Initiative (Intermediate) to perform new commissioned works and basically extend students love and passion for ‘live’ intensive and inclusive music making. Students are mentored by members of Victoria Brass, who are the leading instrumentalists on their specific instruments, this mentor-ship is truly unique throughout Australia.
